© Copyright 2009 FarmgirlFare.com, the morning people (unless it's been a late night) foodie farm blog where we love our Rooster Daddy (whose most recently hatched kids are already almost grown up!), but we know from personal experience that all that propoganda about roosters only crowing at the break of day is—how should I put this?—such a crock. It's more like whenever he feels like it, which around here is all day, all night, and any moment in between. One time we were off the farm and didn't get back until 1 a.m., and as soon as we opened the truck doors we heard COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO! I burst out laughing. We were definitely home sweet home!

  3. Great photos--they really do give a sense of morning calm. Well, except for that rascal in the last one. The tree with the sunlight filtering through looks so wonderful!

  6. Your rooster is adorable! Someday I'd love to have chickens and a rooster when I have my own home. However, I'd have to convince my rooster that morning started closer to 10:00 AM, which I feel is no easy task.

  8. I grew up on a small farm here in Southwest Missouri and though I have lived in town for several years it is pictures like yours that bring back such fond memories. Thank you for posting these and hope you will continue to do so.

  9. Great, peaceful, morning pictures. And about the rooster? We had one that crowed at 3 am even in the winter, not 30 feet from the kids windows.

  11. Gorgeous! We almost moved to 40 acres in Oklahoma but it didn't work out. I still think about all that land and seclusion sometimes!

  16. LOL @ Rooster Daddy! I have three roosters now (long story about those guys) and they truly do crow whenever they feel like it. I've heard them at 3:00am; I guess they're the "party-hearty" type.

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
