Wednesday Daily Dose of Cute: Lookin' For Love

© 2008 FarmgirlFare.com, the award-winning blog where everybody knows that happiness is a warm puppy. And for those of you sharp-eyed sheep sighters, this little ewe is indeed a Katahdin hair sheep (tails aren't docked, no shearing required, not sure about the little horns sprouting from her head). Last spring we decided to diversify—I just haven't gotten around to telling you about it yet. I know, I know, along with about a zillion other things. And for those of you with really sharp eyes, I'm pretty sure that in the bottom photo this silly lamb is smiling.

  1. Yeah another cutie! And the end of the caption should be Looking for love...in all the wrong places. I think Bear needs a companion too.

  5. Ah - Lucky Buddy Bear is a love machine that's for sure - new sheep probably heard around the pen" that dog will lick you dry if you give him a chance". You've been busy this year adding to the critter list - will the next post show you moving into the new place already??? Fun new sheep - nice not to have to dock the tails.

  11. I love all the pictures you share! I have a dumb question....why the red paint stripe on the back end of the sheep?

  12. Hi CJ,
Ha, that's cute. But don't worry about Bear - he's definitely not lonely!

    Hi FJ,
I love it when the animals seem to be smiling.

    Hi Jodi,
It was funny because I'd never seen this lamb show any interest in Bear before. She was so cute when I took these photos because at first he wasn't paying any attention to her, and it looked like she was sort of sneaking up on him. Then she looked so happy! : )

    Hi Lori,
These are the times I'm so glad I carry my camera around everywhere with me!

    Hi LS,
Ha, my mom is coming to visit for Christmas, and she just emailed and asked if we were going to celebrate in the new house. And as soon as I finish typing this I need to call the contractor and see when (if ever!) he's going to come back down and finish up the last of the plumbing and electrical. We're having guests for Thanksgiving weekend and they aren't staying in The Shack! Hopefully we won't be staying in The Shack much longer either. : )

    Hi Kristin,
I wouldn't hold my breath about a visit from Bear anytime soon - he doesn't travel well. And I don't know if I've ever mentioned that although he loves almost all animals, he hides from most people (unless I tell him to attack them - really) and is very, very shy. Of course I'm sure he'd like you, smelling of sheep and all. ; )

    Hi TR,
Mick the Wonder Dog - what a great name! I'm sure you must miss him terribly. It's so hard to say goodbye to our beloved animals. I can't believe that Bear is almost seven already - I don't even want to think about him getting old!

    Hi Susan,
What's so funny about Bear is that almost every time I try to hug and nuzzle him, he immediately flips over and wants a tummy rub. Then he gets hyper and starts bouncing around all over the place - his is one happy, high strung dog!

    Hi Ciagins,
Um, this is my cooking blog. I call it a food and farm blog because it contains a little bit of everything - recipes and food talk, animal photos, garden stuff, farm stories, etc.

You can find links to all my recipes in the right sidebar of the homepage under PREVIOUS POSTS: FOOD STUFF w/ RECIPES. If you're looking for a certain recipe or a specific ingredient, you can use the google search box at the top of the right sidebar. Just type in whatever you're looking for and it'll search only Farmgirl Fare and In My Kitchen Garden, my offshoot gardening blog. Hope this helps!

  13. I wanted to let you know that your writing is being plagiarized. Here is one example: your post
    http://foodiefarmgirl.blogspot.com/2007/11/recipe-what-to-do-with-kohlrabi-puree.html
was stolen by Cid Busarow of fishcreekhouse.com and passed off as her own work. This woman has dozens of blogs promoting her bed and breakfast in Montana and has been threatened with legal action because of her plagiarizing. She removes plagiarized posts from public view for a time, but always returns. Here is her post, stealing your words and passing them off as her own:
    http://fishcreekmt.blogspot.com/2008/10/farming-farmers-casserole.html
Her blog posts are always patched together posts of other's writings, never giving credit, changing names to those of her husband, her horse, her business.
Anyway, you are the latest in a long line of writers she has stolen from.

  16. Susan - are you moving to a new house? Do tell us more!! This is so exciting for you and all of your family!!

Love these picture of Bear and the sheep!! Way too cute! (and don't all dogs love a tummy rub? I know mine does, too.)

  17. I think they both found it. Those are sweet pictures!

My 90 pound lab is quick to flip over for a tummy rub at any sign of affection - even from the cat. And she loves giving affection to the cat...I've go to get a picture of that...

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
