Cary In The Hay Truck

There are 798 beautiful bales of hay stacked neatly in the barn. We are whupped but happy. Yesterday afternoon, out in the middle of the hayfield, Cary and I announced that we were quitting The Haying Crew and running off to join the circus. Our resignations were not accepted.

  1. I don't want to appear over cautious, but is Cary really old enough to drive?

  2. This made me laugh out loud. She is so utterly precious.

Thank you for the daily sweetness.

  3. Now I will preface this comment with how much I love Cary and your "situation", but I must ask-- does dear Joe think you've lost it? Taking a stray under your wing sounds just like something I'd do, and something that my husband would rib me about (good-naturedly, of course) NON-STOP for as long as humanly possible.

Also, how many acres is 798 bales of hay? Seems like a LOT!!!

  4. and I thought having a basset, a barn cat, a goat and three pigs was a lot of fun. I sure did miss the boat on having sheep. You have to be having the time of your life.

  6. I would tell you how much I love this photo of Cary, but then I might appear a little bit odd. I swear I didn't cry when I first saw it. Really!!

  8. Before our two guests arrived, I never knew about sweet sheep faces. The two staying with us (hosted for a FFA student) are currently on a restricted diet before being shown and they are not happy. Lots of sweet face time for treats!

So any good uses for wool around the garden? I've washed some for a kitty bed and put some out for the birds. Good for mulch or other ideas?

And congrats on the mammoth haymaking task. No wonder you and Cary quit!

  10. Thanks for sharing that image. We're all falling in love with little Cary out here. It looks as if her leg has healed quite a bit; is it 100%?

  12. You guys must be really hurting after all that work, (but I am even jealous about that!)

  13. Sore and tired after all that, and you're still willing to let Carey sit on your lap! She must not weigh too much yet?

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
