Daily Farm Photo 9/18/05: Sunflower

This is my 100th Daily Farm Photo—and one of my favorites.

It's been amazing.*

I would love to know what some of your favorite photos are.
For those who may not be familiar with how Blogger works, the easiest way to look through several previous posts at once is via the Archives (located in the left sidebar). Simply click on a month, and you will then be able to scroll down through all of that month's photos and stories.

So do you think I'll make it to Daily Farm Photo 1,000? Or will I run out of subject material long before that? As always, your comments and suggestions are greatly enjoyed and appreciated.

I'm so glad you're here.

  1. It has been marvelous!!
I love seeing your farm. It was fun to look around again. You can begin to piece together the images and get an idea how your farm is layed out.

Favorite photos are the early morning shots. I also love the ones with the swing (there is one in july and the newer one with the sun coming through the fence)
You can totally make it to 1000 - everything changes with the seasons!! I will love to see how fall and winter come to the farm.

  3. Hi Everyone,
I have been asked by FG to leave this comment for you all. Fingers crossed the storm isn't to big

    Hello Friends!
Just a quick note to let you know that I'm still having (incredibly frustrating) problems with my dial-up connection. There is also an enormous thunderstorm blowing through. The morning is getting darker instead of lighter! So this may be it for me online for a bit.

I'm so happy I was at least able to post this mini milestone photo!

  4. Well, the sunflower has now been made the background of my work desktop computer :) So you will be happy to know that. Now on to delve into the other many pharmgirlphotos...will write later which is my favorite.
What kind of camera do you have? Photos are a huge part of bloggin and I really need to purchase one , or ask for one for bday or Christmas.

  5. Congrats, Susan!
I would have to say that, though I really do like ALL the photos, this one has to be my favorite. I'm a sucker for horses, what can I say!

  8. Very nice Blog!! My favorite pictures: Misty Mornings on 8/26, the plate of chocolate chip cookies and the hornets nest... I found your blog thru a search on yahoo on 'farmgirl' and am currently reading MaryJane Butters book on the farmgirl lifestyle. Maybe I will be a Farmgirl too someday... All the best to you...

  9. Congratulations on #100! My day is never complete unless I've seen your Daily Farm Photo. They are always so peaceful and give me hope that someday I'll have a bit of that country life too.

  10. Hi Amy,
LOL, I'm so thrilled you're thrilled to be #1!: )

    Hi Wendy,
Thanks so much for your kind words. I, too, like the morning shots. And I know you love that swing! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing fall and winter with a camera in my hands.

    Hi Clare,
Not even second! Thank you, nonetheless. : )

And thanks for posting the message for me this morning--and how appropriately annoying that I just got disconnected from the internet again while typing this!

    Hi Mona,
Thanks so much. I'm flattered. As for my camera, it is about as basic as you can get with digital cameras. It's a 3-year old Kodak EasyShare DX3700, and I don't think they even make them anymore. I am actually very surprised by what this camera can do. The photos you see go straight from the camera onto Farmgirl Fare. No cropping, no adjusting, no nothing. (I can barely operate the camera, let alone figure out something like PhotoShop.) The only photo I ever posted that was retouched was this one. It had a big crumb on it, so I sent it to Clare at Eat Stuff in Australia, and she ate the crumb and sent the picture back without it. : )

I have some links to similar cameras for you, and I also would like to reply to the rest of the comments, but I've just been disconnected from the dial-up connection TEN times trying to type this, so I think I need to give up for tonight. Please check back (hopefully) tomorrow for more info.

In the meantime, thanks to all of you for writing. I loved reading about your favorite photos.

    Geekwif,
    Great to hear from you.

And welcome to the farm, new visitors Tiffani and Anonymous! (A-unfortunately, I couldn't get your link to open).

I hope I will have this irritating problem fixed very, very soon!

  11. Hi FG, I have only recently seen your blog and am already in love with it. I can feel the enthusiasm that you have for your life (and your sense of humor is very cute). I can't say that I have one fave picture yet...I love the way your farm looks and get such a kick out of reading your past blogs. It is nice to hear the mundane, daily stuff in such an interesting and insightful way. I was inspired to start my own blog here...of course, it could have also been the inspirational tapes I am listening to...regardless, keep on writing because I'm reading!

  13. "So do you think I will make it to Daily Farm Photo number 1,000?"

I hope you do...and many more!

My favorite photos are the ones that star the donkey, just because he has such an expressive face. But as far as actual photo quality, I must commend your misty sunrises.

  14. Congratulations Susan.

I like very much the photos of the swing, the photos of chicken-house, the photos of flowers, the photos of early morning, photos of cookies, photos of....
In brief, your blog, your photos became inescapable for me. I like my daily e-journeys in your farm.

  15. Mine is "A Safe Place to Rest." This is the one of your lamb squishing his head through a tight space. It reminds me of my bulldog who loved to do the same thing - I think being in a tight space gave him a sense of security.

  16. Hi Susan, congratulations on your 100th photo ! And please continue for thousands more - I simply adore them, especially the misty morning photos (and the swing as well !), but if you ask me which is my most favorite I can tell you it's the photo of 8/2/05 - the first I have ever seen on your blog, it's LUCKY BUDDY BEAR. This is how a dog looks when being completely happy and satisfied...
By the way, don't miss the new WEEKEND DOG BLOGGING powered by Sweetnicks ! Take care, angelika and gino

  17. Wow-100 photos! That's amazing. My favorites are any that include your beautiful animals-Chip and Robin, and the rest of the crew-since I am such a big animal-lover. These pictures are both inspiring and beautiful, because they capture animals in the setting in which they are meant to be living!
PS: I cannot thank you enough for your bread-baking tips, and for answering my rising question in my blog comments last week. I wanted to email you with my results from bread-baking this weekend, but I can't seem to find your email address. Do you have one you'd be willing to share? The long and short of it is that your tips made a remarkable difference in my bread-especially, I think, the Autolyse tip. So thank you!

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
