  1. hi farmgirl, I'm totally awed... I was born and bred a city girl and still am, so I take my hat off to anyone who gets right down with nature on a daily basis. WOW :)

  2. Hi Farmgirl,

This photo reminds me of my dad who would have turned 103 yesterday. He was farmer all his life and he loved driving his tractor. He did live to be 95 and he drove his tractor until he was almost 90.. By the way those chocolate chip cookies look so good I can almost taste and smell them from CA.

  3. Hi eatzycath,
Welcome to the farm! Glad you found me. You can stop by anytime without leaving the city--as a friend put it, "It's all the fun without the bugs and bad weather!"

    Hi Jet,
Glad I could bring back a nice memory for you. Yep, it's hard to tear a farmer away from his tractor. I'm sure Joe will still be driving his when he's 90. It might be a different tractor, though--I think this one is about 90! He just babies it along, saying things like, "It's flat down here; who needs brakes?"

P.S. You should try making some of those cookies--they're so easy!

  7. Our neighbor, Phil Cameron, used to cut hay on an old tractor like that, except it was even older - I swear he had bought it at year one and somehow kept it running. He would cut our pastures for us and bale it for his livestock, and later share when I got horses. I miss my homeplace....

December 2015 update: Hi! For some reason I can't figure out, Blogger hasn't been letting me leave comments on my own blog (!) for the last several months, so I've been unable to respond to your comments and questions. My apologies for any inconvenience! You're always welcome to email me: farmgirlfare AT gmail DOT com.

Hi! Thanks for visiting Farmgirl Fare and taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love hearing about your experiences with my recipes. Comments on older posts are always welcome!

Please note that I moderate comments, so if I'm away from the computer it may be a while before yours appears.

I try my best to answer all questions, though sometimes it takes me a few days. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your e-visits to our farm!
